Beautiful art, views and food at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens near Penzance

On the outskirts of Penzance, set on a hillside overlooking St. Michael’s Mount, lies the most beautiful Tremenheere Sculpture Garden.

We started our visit on the cafe terrace and ate delicious homemade soup and cakes, gazing at the shimmering sea below. The cafe was such a find and a really welcoming sight for travel weary eyes; Eames Eiffel chairs, striped floors, pops of pink and green. With food to match its stylish interior I found it hard to leave and walk up the hill to the garden behind. But I’m glad I did.

The path led us through thick woodland with an almost tropical feel. Bluebells carpeted the floor while above our heads towered large tree ferns. We knew we were discovering something quite special. As we headed up the hill the wooded canopy gave way to spiky Agaves, grasses and the occasional sculpture. Then at the top we were rewarded with the most amazing views, stretching out to St. Michael’s Mount and beyond.

Beautiful gardens, art, views and food – a must if you’re in the area.
